2022 Playoffs
Hey Guys,
We are unable to have the Older Boys playoffs on the previously planned days due to players going to a tournament down south. I apologize for the short notice, but, we have to adapt. We will play the playoffs on the nights of August 8th and 11th. We will have a round robin tournament based on the standings. As next weeks games will not alter the standings, I will show the tournament seedings and games now.
1. TKs
2. Mits
3. Marauders
4. Rowdies.
Aug. 8, Monday
Main Diamond NW Diamond
4 vs 1 3 vs 2
3 vs 1 4 vs 2
Aug. 11, Thursday
2 vs 1 4 vs 3
Final Consolation
2 vs 1 4 vs 3 Based on round robin results
I know this was not what was planned, but, it is the best we can do short of cancelling playoffs and I don't think anyone wants that.
I apologize to the players that will be playing the Saturday league playoffs the 2 days before as I know this will be tough.
Thank you to all and could team coaches let me know they received this e-mail as soon as possible.
Mike

2019 Playoffs
ROWDIES WIN PLAYOFFS, FIRST TIMERS!
The Rowdies, definitely underdogs, came through with a great day of play on Sunday at the 50's playoffs. The team had finished under 500 and in 3rd place for the season, but suddenly found their bats and their gloves for the final day. With victories of 18 - 11 over the Mits 50+, 13 - 8 over the Slo-Boyz and 19 - 8 over the Marauders in the final, the team ran away with the Playoff Trophy. Special recognition to Roberto Meneses and Wayne Williams for hitting clutch grand slam home runs in game 2 and 3 respectively. Also kudos to Rob Reid who pitched all the games for the weekend!
The Consolation final was won by the Mits 50+ 22 - 10 over the Slo-Boyz.

Hi Everyone
Another season of ball nears the end at South Hill! The best weather I can ever remember! And all the games were played!
The Marauders and Mits 50+ teams ended up tied for points in the regular season with 23 wins. Congrats to both teams on an excellent season! The Marauders take first spot on the head to head with 3 wins and 3 ties, but a +4 Run Differential over the Mits 50+ team.
The Nighthawks pulled a win out last night to go one win (total of 7 wins) over the sMits+ and finish in 5th spot!

2013
The South Hill Older Boys 2013 league concluded with a successful and competitive playoff on August 17, 18. After a round robin format, the seven teams competed to three championship rounds. In the Second Flight, the Bulldogs outscored the Bark Blowers in well fought game. In the First Flight, the sMits+ upset the Rowdies with a good hitting offence. In the Championship Round, the Mits 50+ team came back after an initial loss to defeat the Marauders in the final. Congratulations to the Bulldogs, the sMits+ and the Mits 50+ teams. The Marauders were crowned the League Champions for their consistent league play. Congratulations. All teams enjoyed the lunch sponsored by the league and the South Hill Association. Thanks to the kitchen staff: Caroline and Mei, as well as Tom Yipp for field prep and park management, and Darryl for park maintenance and filling in for all the teams when we were short! It was a great season: wonderful weather, competitive play, good sportsmanship and great fun! See you next year! |

Congratulations to all the 50's players for a competitive season full of good sportsmanship! The Marauders hung on for a one run win over the Mits 50+ in eight innings. It came down to the final pitch and swing for the Marauders to win the trophy with a score of 9-8. This exemplifies the close competition that existed all year between the teams. In the First Flight, the Bulldogs had a great finish, winning over the Salt Chuckers. In the Second Flight, the sMits+ defeated the Bark Blowers. The Home Run Champ was awarded to Rob Belanger of the Mits 50+ for hitting 23 dingers over the regular season. Thanks to all the kitchen staff, Tom Yipp, Darryl and all the team managers for helping to make it a most successful season! See you next year! |
